SEO ToolBox privacy policy
Effective September 29, 2026
SEO ToolBox is a free Chrome extension made by RedSEO (Larry Norris Marketing, LLC). It analyzes pages inside your browser. Page snapshots, history and settings are stored locally and never uploaded to our servers. No account is needed. Search Console and DataForSEO are optional and connect to your own accounts. Anonymous usage statistics are off unless you choose to share them.
What SEO ToolBox reads to run its checks
- The page you're viewing. When you open SEO ToolBox, it reads that page's HTML metadata, headings, links, images and structured data inside your browser.
- That site's public files. It requests the site's robots.txt, XML sitemap, llms.txt and the URLs linked from the page, to check crawlability and find broken links and redirects. These requests go directly from your browser to that site.
- Core Web Vitals. The address of the page you analyze is sent to Google's Chrome UX Report API to fetch its real-user performance data. We don't store it.
What's stored on your device
Your settings (such as theme, tab order and default tab), page snapshots used for change tracking, your history, and short-lived caches of check results are kept in your browser's extension storage. They are not uploaded to our servers. Uninstalling the extension deletes them.
DataForSEO (optional, your own account)
Only if you connect your own DataForSEO account in Settings → Integrations: the analyzed page's URL, its domain and keywords you click are sent to DataForSEO under your account, for the Research, Backlinks, AI mentions and live-results features. Your DataForSEO API login and password are stored only in your browser and are sent only to api.dataforseo.com. They never reach our servers.
Google user data
SEO ToolBox can optionally connect to your Google Search Console account. This section explains what we access and how it is handled.
What we access. With your permission, SEO ToolBox requests read-only access to Google Search Console (webmasters.readonly) and your Google account email address. We use it to:
- list the Search Console properties you have access to, so we can match the page you're viewing to the right property;
- show search performance (clicks, impressions, click-through rate, average position and top queries) for the page you're viewing;
- show the page's index status using the URL Inspection tool; and
- display which Google account is connected in the extension's settings.
How it's stored. Google data is requested directly from Google by the extension running in your browser. It is cached only on your device (in your browser's extension storage) for up to 24 hours to reduce repeat requests, and is deleted when you disconnect your account, clear your history in Settings, or uninstall the extension.
What we don't do. We do not send your Google data to our servers. We do not sell it, share it with third parties, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI or machine-learning models. No person at RedSEO reads your Google data. Anonymous usage analytics (if you opt in) never include Google data, page URLs or page content.
Revoking access. You can disconnect at any time in SEO ToolBox → Settings → Google Search Console → Disconnect, or from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Limited Use. SEO ToolBox's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Anonymous usage data (optional)
SEO ToolBox asks before collecting any usage data, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & data. If you choose to share, the extension sends:
- when the panel is opened, which tabs are viewed and which features are used (for example exporting a CSV)
- your settings choices (for example theme, default tab and tab order)
- error reports: the type of error and where in our code it happened, with web addresses and page text removed
- for pages you analyze: the health-score range and which audit checks failed (check names only, never the page address or content)
- the extension version, browser, interface language and panel width
- a random ID created for this install, which is not linked to your identity or any account
Our server adds your country from the network connection. Your IP address is not stored.
We never collect the pages or sites you visit, page content, Search Console or DataForSEO data, keywords, notes, email addresses or API keys.
If you send us feedback from the extension, or tell us how you found SEO ToolBox, we receive your answer with the extension version, browser and country, and use it only to improve SEO ToolBox.
Usage data is stored in a database operated for RedSEO by Neon (Postgres) and processed by Cloudflare. Raw events are deleted after 13 months. It is used only to improve SEO ToolBox and is never sold or shared.
What we don't do
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties, use it for purposes unrelated to SEO ToolBox's single purpose of analyzing the page you're viewing, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending. SEO ToolBox does not collect personal information, health, financial or communications data.
