Field data first, on purpose
Most speed tools show you a single lab score out of 100 and let you optimise it. That number is one simulated page load, and it is not what Google assesses you on. What counts is field data: what actually happened to real people visiting your site, measured at the 75th percentile and segmented by device.
So this tool asks for the real-user data first. When Google has none for your site, it says so in plain language rather than quietly substituting the lab number and letting you believe it is the same thing. That happens often: it is true of our own site.
What to do with the result
- Fix one metric. LCP, INP and CLS have different causes and different fixes.
- Count your third-party scripts. The most common cause of a slow site, and the least technical to fix, because the fix is deletion.
- Re-check after 28 days, not after an hour. Field data is a rolling window of real visits.
