Help Google find and rank your videos

Search engines can’t always discover videos embedded on your pages — especially ones loaded by JavaScript or hosted off-site. A video sitemap spells it out for them: for each video it provides the page it lives on, a thumbnail, a title and description, the video or player URL, and metadata like duration and publish date. That improves your odds of showing up in video search and video rich results.

Field guide

• Page URL — the page the video is embedded on (not the video file).
• Thumbnail — a preview image URL (required).
• Title & description — concise, accurate, keyword-aware.
• Content URL or Player URL — the raw file (content_loc) and/or an embed (player_loc); at least one is required.
• Duration / publication date / family-friendly — recommended extras that strengthen the entry.

Build your file here, download video-sitemap.xml, then submit it in Google Search Console.
